COVID-19 (coronavirus) has caused disruption and fear across the world. John’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning would like to reassure our customers that we are open for business and are here to support you during these times. All our team members have implemented additional, precautionary, measures that follow advice from the Australian Government. We are implementing these changes to protect our valued customers, employees and the community.

With so many of us working from home now, our split system air conditioners are taking a beating as we keep our homes warm during this cold snap. And, unfortunately, our appliances, including refrigerators, don’t care if there’s a pandemic. As a result, it is more important than ever to ensure everything in your home is working properly.

Right now, social distancing is more important than ever. It is essential that we practice safe social distancing to flatten the curve of infection rates. John’s Refrigeration and Airconditioning has always operated with convenience in mind, offering 24/7 repair services.

This convenience hasn’t changed, with our technicians able to visit your home to provide much-needed repairs and installation. However, our technicians are keeping strict social distancing in mind. We understand it can be concerning to have a technician enter your home during this crisis. As a result, our technicians have hand sanitiser on them at all times and follow frequent handwashing practices, as advised by the Australian Government. They are also following all recommended social distancing rules, ensuring there is plenty of space between them and our customers.

We are also now accepting payment over the phone, instead of in person. This helps prevent contact between individuals.

Why Install or Repair Airconditioning Now?

While the summer months are long behind us, we are already experiencing some uncomfortable cold snaps. A good split system air conditioner can help heat your home in winter and cool it in summer. Further, in times like these, it is important that you keep your air conditioner working properly and that it is well serviced. While published research on ventilation systems suggests that the transmission of viral infected droplets through air conditioners is theoretically possible, it is considered less likely in well-maintained systems. This includes commercial and residential properties.

There are a number of practical measures we can undertake to help reduce the likelihood of a virus spreading. These include:

  • Air filtration options

Air filtration systems need to be replaced as scheduled or even more often that required at times like these. This includes the careful removal of dust and other particles, the removal of air filters, and the cleaning of interior and exterior services.

Standard air conditioner air filtration is not considered effective in filtering virus droplets. Most air conditioners cannot filter particles under 5000 nanometres, and it is thought that COVID-19 measures in at around 125nm. As a result, it is important at times like these to increase the efficiency of particle filtration, to reduce airborne infectious particles. Our team also askes all customers to contact us, urgently and in advance, if they are unwell or in self-isolation. This is an important measure to protect our employees and other customers, to prevent further spread of the virus. While this may cause a delay or rescheduling of your installation or repair, it is important that you inform us if you are unwell. We assure you, you will still get the products and services you need.
We believe it is important to have put these measures in place to protect you and our employees, as well as the community at large.
